50 US states silver art bars

I got ahold of a set of these at $13 per. Any idea what the collectible market is for these? They are very nice looking and well struck.

Interesting that stuff like this is available at this coin guy I work with. I think sentiment must be very low and lately he has a lot of this collectible silver around, odd stuff (to me) like this...

If they're .999 fine and say 1 Troy oz. then regardless of the collectors value, $13.00 is a great price at current spot.

yeah, it's stamped. It's just silver but it's in a neat case and everything. I have noticed a lot of neat collectible stuff coming through this dealer lately. More and more. I think it's related to the discouragement of collectors but maybe it's simply coincidence.

OFFICIAL INGOTS OF THE UNITED STATES collection (50-bar set).
This collection was endorsed by The Washington D.C. Bicentennial Commission. Collectors: HAM-563. Size: 1 x 2 inches. Mintage: 15,000.
rarity value of $17 to $22 (rarity-3)

Great price, grapejelly :-)
The rarety value is as stated in AN INDEXED GUIDE BOOK OF SILVER ART BARS from 1991.

very good point. I was thinking of waiting for silver to heat up a little and then selling but you may have a better idea there...hmmmmm...

Before you list this rare set on ebay, you should check al recently ended items. You will notice they sell around $700-$800.
So if you sell it at $700, you will make very little profit ; you will also have to pay ebay fees!
And if you sell it, you will need to find generic silver for a better price than the $13 per ounce you've paid for this rare set.
I think you have a real bargain here and shouldn't sell it, unless you can get a bid of $800 or more.

Check the New York bar. I'm quite sure that the NY skyline (assuming I have the right set in mind) does not have the twin towers in it. The set was released in '73, but the design was from '71 or '72, prior to the towers construction.

Just an interesting observation.

this set has the state capitols rather than the skylines of the capital city.

I'm not sure whether these guys make offers (http://www.rivercitycoins.com/silver...verartbar.html ), however the site is a good guage of market prices.

Beautiful Smallbany, NY. I have that one too. Little different shape than a standard bar.
